Research at the School of Rural Health
The School of Rural Health is developing its research capacity. It already has a number of projects involving local campuses and honours students and there are now plans for a number of significant multidisciplinary collaborative studies. These include:
The University of Sydney Rural Adolescent Cohort Study
This study will explore the health and wellbeing of children as they progress from childhood through adolescence and puberty in rural areas.
The Will and A Way program.
This project will study the reasons why Indigenous students are not accessing Universities for tertiary education.
The MTRP EBM Study
This prospective study will evaluate how well do prevocational trainees practice evidence-based medicine.
The George Institute Research Project
Recently established in 2008, the Research Centre aims to further expand the research presence in rural NSW in collaboration with The George Institute For International Health.
Local research initiatives from SRH campuses that looks at problems of obesity in young adult males, hospital readmissions, how the discovery bus tour influences students decsion to study at SRH and bibliometric analyses that cover a range of topics from family practice to health economics.
