Dubbo South Rotary Club to provide $100,000 over five years to the School of Rural Health Dubbo Campus

Dubbo South Rotary Club has donated the first $20,000 of a promised $100,000 to the School of Rural Health, to assist with funding of lecture theatre on the Dubbo campus.

“We are extremely grateful for the funds,” said Associate Professor Tony Brown, head of the School of Rural Health at a hand over ceremony. “The support we receive from the local community makes a huge difference to the education we are able to provide for health and medical students who choose to undertake some of their training in Dubbo.”

The funds were raised by Dubbo South Rotary through a range of activities, including its successful “Destination Outback” project. The Club has said it will contribute the full $100,000 over a five year period.

“Dubbo South Rotary is committed to supporting worthwhile organisations, institutions and individuals,” said Club President Mr Tony Speirs. “Tertiary education is most definitely viewed as a priority. University facilities are an enormous boost for our community and we look forward to the further expansion of local campuses.”

The Club negotiated its generous support with Associate Professor Joe Canalese, who has recently stepped down as Head of School.
